Possible Tornado Causes Damage South of Plattsburg

In the early morning hours of May 13th, 2010 a storm destroyed outbuildings, and caused moderate damage to homes South of Plattsburg.  Storm damage began on J Hwy near Arnold Rd, and continued SE 228th St just West of C Hwy.

No injuries were reported from damage caused by the storm.  The Plattsburg Fire Protection District responded to a report of a propane leak which began when a residential liquid propane gas tank was rolled from it’s foundation by wind and flying debris.  The Fire District personnel where able to control the leak without further damage or injury.

The image at left shows points where storm damage was documented, and is consistent with a weak tornadic storm.  The NWS issued a tornado warning for this storm.

Update: This storm has been categorized as an EF-0 tornado by NWS Pleasant Hill.
